Description
Round, sub-globular cast iron cooking pot, or small cauldron. Originally had a handle attached by two cast-in loops (now missing). Three raised bands around the circumference, and three lug feet at the base. This type of cook-pot could be suspended over a fire or nestled into the coals, and could be used open or with a lit, offering a variety of cooking options.

Provenance
Slave cabin on the Rayfield Plantation, excavated in 1969 in one of the first archaeological studies of slavery in the US. This piece came from another cabin on the same plantation as the one excavated.
